Russia Launches Missile Strike on Kyiv, One Killed
On April 6, 2025, Russia launched a fresh missile attack on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, killing at least one person and injuring three others. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, explosions hit the Darnytskyi district, setting non-residential buildings on fire and damaging vehicles.
This comes just two days after a deadly Russian missile strike on President Volodymyr Zelensky’s hometown, Kryvyi Rih, which killed 19 people, including nine children, and wounded 75. Russia claimed it targeted a restaurant where Ukrainian and foreign military officials were present, but Ukraine denied that allegation.
Ukraine’s air force reported that overnight, Russia launched 23 missiles and 109 drones. Ukrainian defenses intercepted 13 missiles and 40 drones, but many still hit their targets.
In response, NATO scrambled fighter jets from Poland and nearby countries to monitor the situation and strengthen air defenses. The international community has strongly condemned the attacks and called for de-escalation.
President Zelensky criticized the U.S. response as “weak,” demanding stronger international action against Russian aggression.
These attacks highlight the ongoing intensity of the war and its toll on civilians and infrastructure across Ukraine.
