For those with a principal of less than 5,000 U, listen to me: Don't rush to turn things around, first learn to 'survive'.
I personally guided a fan who entered in March 2023 with a principal of only 5,000 U, and by August of the same year, their account had grown to 43,000 U.
They never faced a liquidation, relying not on luck, but on a 'turtle-style' strategy, which I condensed into three points.
1. Divide your money into three sections, never go all-in
• 1,500 U: Short-term position, only trade intraday, at most once a day, and shut down after trading.
• 1,500 U: Trend position, only enter during weekly-level trends, and let it idle at other times.
• 1,500 U: Survival position, locked in a cold wallet, restart if there’s a real liquidation.
Keep the remaining 500 U for fees and slippage, don’t compete for positions with your capital.
2. Only take the juiciest bites
• Ignore all oscillating ranges; 80% of losses die here.
• If the direction is not confirmed, stay flat; being out of the market is also a strategy.
• When unrealized profits reach 20% of your principal, immediately withdraw 30%, and let the rest run.
Remember: Profits only count when withdrawn.
3. Outsource emotions to the program
• Stop loss at 2%, the system will automatically cut once it hits, and then go to sleep.
• When unrealized profits reach 4%, close half first, and set a trailing stop for the remaining half.
• Never average down on losing trades; averaging down is the fastest route to bankruptcy for retail investors.
All rules should be written into a script; people are only responsible for reviewing after the market closes.
Now this brother's account has grown to 60,000 U, spending just five minutes each day to glance at the levels I provided; he works when he should work and takes care of his kids when he should. The market can no longer hold him hostage.
Want to make a comeback? First learn not to lose.
Dividing positions, timing, and controlling positions—these fundamental skills are what will save you three years of detours.
