Here’s why it caught my attention:

• BitVM Bridge – A trust-minimized bridge for cross-chain transfers, cutting down on risks that have hurt other bridges.

• YBTC – A yield-bearing Bitcoin asset, finally letting BTC holders earn without giving up custody.

• High-throughput Bitcoin Rollup – Faster transactions and composability for dApps that want to run on Bitcoin.

What stands out to me is how Bitlayer is tackling three big gaps in Bitcoin’s utility: scalability, yield generation, and cross-chain connectivity. Right now, most Bitcoin just sits idle, but with YBTC and the rollup, we could see it powering real DeFi use cases lending, trading, and even gaming.

The timing is also interesting. With Bitcoin L2 projects gaining traction in 2025, Bitlayer’s approach feels positioned for that wave. And because it’s built directly on Bitcoin’s native security, it keeps the trust model that makes $BTC so valuable in the first place.
