The United States has offered a reward of up to $6 million for information that will help detain key individuals from the management of the Russian cryptocurrency exchange Garantex, and has imposed sanctions on the successor firm.

The State Department and the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced new measures against the Russian-founded cryptocurrency exchange Garantex, which is believed to have been widely used for money laundering.

In particular, sanctions will target the successor firm of Garantex – Grinex, as well as three individuals from the management of Garantex and six partner companies in Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

Additionally, the U.S. is offering up to $5 million for information about the Russian Alexander Mire Serde, and up to $1 million for information about other key individuals from the management of the cryptocurrency exchange.

The U.S. has also offered $2.5 million for information about a hacker from Belarus.
