US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed the information about the modest amount of bitcoins (BTC) held by the US government, equivalent to a value of $15 to $20 billion, which is significantly less than previous estimates of $23 billion.

He also stated that the US government will not acquire more BTC for its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, shattering the hopes of millions of investors.

Rumors about how to use the Exchange Stabilization Fund or other ways to redirect funds from American gold reserves to purchase bitcoins have been circulating for several months.

However, Bessent denied these plans, which is believed to have led to a significant drop in the price of bitcoin and the entire crypto market.

Additionally, Bessent stated that he is not aware of any government plans to acquire additional BTC. At the same time, he reiterated his previous promises not to sell coins confiscated in civil and criminal cases that are in the process of being transferred under the control of the US government.

It should be noted that earlier Donald Trump signed an order requiring Bessent to consider such plans, but it seems he has already done so and rejected them.$BTC #BTC #DonaldTrump
