Bitcoin recently surged to an all-time high, but a new report reveals a stark contrast in Bitcoin holdings between South Korea and the United States. According to a survey by Maeil Business Newspaper, the US holds a commanding 3,587,163 BTC, dwarfing South Korea's 218,076 BTC. This means South Korea's Bitcoin stash is only about 6.08% of the US holdings, or roughly 1/16th. The gap widened significantly after the US launched Bitcoin spot ETFs in January of last year. These ETFs accounted for 1.29 million BTC of the total US holdings. Before the ETF launch, the US held 1,657,697 Bitcoins, already about 8 times more than South Korea. The introduction of ETFs accelerated the accumulation, resulting in the current 16-fold difference. This highlights the impact of institutional investment vehicles on Bitcoin ownership. ```
