Norway’s $1.6 Trillion Wealth Fund Now Holds $900 Million in Bitcoin
Norway’s sovereign wealth fund, Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), has increased its indirect Bitcoin holdings to 7,161 BTC, worth around $862.8 million as of June 30, showing significant growth of 87.7% over the last six months and 192.7% over the past year.
NBIM's exposure to Bitcoin is mainly through its investment in Strategy, a business intelligence and corporate BTC treasury firm, which contributed 3,340 BTC in the first half of 2025. The fund also has stakes in companies like Block, Coinbase, and Metaplanet, which hold large Bitcoin reserves.
According to K33’s Vetle Lunde, Bitcoin exposure is becoming a standard part of diversified portfolios, with even the average Norwegian holding Bitcoin exposure worth $138. This trend is expected to grow as more companies adopt Bitcoin for treasury purposes.
