Binance Alpha Dispatch: Overlay Protocol (OVL)

Overlay Protocol (OVL) aims to solve a new problem in DeFi using on-chain technology: allowing any verifiable data stream to be traded without relying on traditional liquidity pools or counterparties.

It has developed a proprietary "data derivatives" system, where users can directly use $OVL as collateral to open long/short positions on any non-manipulated, unpredictable data—from DeFi metrics, Twitch popularity, to CS2 skin values, and even weather as “exotic” indicators can be traded. Once the position is closed, profits mint new $OVL for you, while losses “burn” your $OVL, detaching from traditional counterparties and addressing liquidity challenges.

Overlay Protocol has set multiple thresholds including funding rates, single position yield/leverage limits (caps), trading volume restrictions, and circuit breaker mechanisms to minimize inflation risk; it has also passed audits from four major security firms: Spearbit, Least Authority, Trail of Bits, and Nethermind.
