Chainlink partners with ICE, the owner of the NYSE, to bring currency and precious metals data onto the blockchain, creating a solid foundation for the RWA market.
Chainlink – the leading blockchain oracle platform – announced one of the most important strategic partnership agreements, teaming up with Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), a Fortune 500 company and the owner of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). This agreement will bring ICE's organizational-level market data directly onto blockchain networks, marking a foundational step in connecting traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi).
According to the plan, the ICE Consolidated Feed will provide the Chainlink ecosystem with highly accurate quotes for over 150 currency pairs and key precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum. This data is aggregated from over 300 exchanges and trading venues worldwide, serving as a standard reference source for the composite indices used by DeFi protocols and on-chain applications.
The integration is not just a technical update, but also strategic in establishing a standard for organizational-level data provision for the digital asset market. Fernando Vázquez, President of the Banking and Capital Markets division at Chainlink Labs, noted that the combination of Chainlink's infrastructure and ICE data will enable organizations to access secure, high-quality, and almost real-time data – a crucial foundation for deploying the next generation of crypto products, especially in the realm of real-world assets (RWA).
The collaboration takes place in the context of a booming RWA market, with a projected size of $30.1 trillion by 2030. For a market of such scale to operate effectively on the blockchain, the key factor is transparent, reliable, and low-latency data for accurate asset valuation.
By bringing data from one of the pillars of the global financial system onto the blockchain, Chainlink and ICE are building a core infrastructure piece, laying the groundwork for the traditional capital markets to enter the crypto era with higher levels of trust and safety.
