Binance's CSO (Chief Security Officer) publicly stated today that Binance receives a large number of forged resumes every day from 'North Korean official hackers' posing as Chinese and Japanese to interview at Binance. One of the disguised North Korean hacker members successfully assisted in executing multiple major hacking incidents.
In fact, there have been precedents for this; the Bybit incident resulted in the theft of $ETH which was exchanged for 13,562 $BTC, worth $1.63 billion. Just in the first half of this year, North Korean hackers have already siphoned off $1.6 billion in cryptocurrency from the crypto sphere.
In addition to hacking attacks, North Korean programmers have infiltrated thousands of Web3 industry companies for work, earning over $10 million this year, mostly paid in USDC. (Some project teams have discovered that these employees, even when claiming to live in the same city as the team, consistently refuse to meet offline, and there have even been instances of three North Korean engineers recommending each other to join the same project, thus infiltrating the entire company)
With so much cryptocurrency taken by North Korean hackers, where has it all gone? It's hard to guess 😅
