Why 21 million? The magic number of Bitcoin

Many people know that Bitcoin has a limit of 21 million coins, but few understand the reason.

It's not a random number: it was chosen by Satoshi Nakamoto to ensure absolute scarcity, similar (but more predictable) to gold.

Every 10 minutes new BTC are created as a reward for miners, but this amount is halved approximately every 4 years, until it runs out.

Result: a deflationary asset immune to infinite money printing.

Those who own Bitcoin today are holding a part of a pie that will never grow in size.
