The operation targeted BlackSuit and Royal ransomware, with the involved gang having extorted over $500 million since 2022 and illegally profited at least $370 million. The frozen Bitcoin assets partially come from a $1.45 million ransom paid by victims in April 2023. U.S. officials stated that this move constitutes a significant blow to the gang's operations, and further investigations are ongoing, which may lead to additional charges.
