The Vietnamese police have just dismantled a transnational crime ring led by Nguyễn Văn Hạ (45 years old, Gia Lai), which organized illegal multi-level marketing through the cryptocurrency PaynetCoin (PAYN).
This group set up websites such as FMCPAY.com and AFF2024.com, promising to pay interest of 5-9% per month and commissions for recruiting more people, essentially taking money from new investors to pay earlier ones. They claimed to have a 'registered exchange in the USA' and that PAYN could be used for services, but this was entirely false information.
Thousands of people both domestically and internationally have been defrauded, with the total amount raised reaching billions of USD. The police have prosecuted 20 defendants, frozen many assets worth thousands of billions of dong, and are expanding the investigation.
