Ethereum (ETH) is currently experiencing a clash between two opposing trends – on one side, institutions and whales are aggressively accumulating, while on the other, some investors are cashing in on recent gains.
📈 Institutions Betting on Long-Term Growth
On-chain data shows Ethereum flowing into government bonds and investment programs in massive volumes. ETF funds have purchased up to 117,000 ETH on their most active days, pushing prices to levels not seen since 2021.
On Sunday evening, ETH climbed to $4,320.55 and stabilized at 0.035 BTC.
Ethereum’s annual inflation rate remains at just 0.78%, but at the current pace of accumulation, the actual available supply is shrinking rapidly.

🐋 Mysterious Whale Expands Its Holdings
One unidentified institution – speculated to be linked to BitMine or SharpLink Gaming – recently increased its holdings from 171,000 ETH to 221,166 ETH. These coins are spread across multiple wallets to reduce risk and improve security.
ETH reserves across all exchanges have dropped to a near all-time low of 18.89 million ETH, while Binance reserves have grown, partly due to deposits into liquid staking, where the exchange controls over 8.3% of the market.
💰 Liquid Staking Drives Accumulation
Institutions often move ETH into liquid staking programs immediately after purchase to generate passive income. This model is attracting more corporate buyers, while retail market participants are engaging mainly through DeFi platforms.
⚠ Short-Term Selling Pressure
Despite optimism and predictions of new all-time highs, some early investors have decided to lock in profits. One Ethereum ICO participant sold 2,300 ETH, almost completely liquidating their initial stake.
Historically, ETH is still trading far below its ICO-era peak against BTC, when it reached 0.14 BTC.

💡 Summary: Ethereum is at a point where institutional demand is hitting record levels, but selling pressure from long-term holders is also emerging. The key factor for the next move could be whether large players maintain their buying pace during potential corrections.
