My staged profit-taking usually looks like this:

  • First profit-taking: 50% - locking in most of the profits

  • Second profit-taking: 30% - further profits from the market

  • Third profit-taking: 20% - betting on a big market

When the market reaches the first profit-taking target, sell a portion of the position first to lock in the profits already gained. This way, even if the market reverses afterwards, the profits already secured will not be given back.

The remaining position can continue to be held to enjoy additional profits brought by the subsequent market expansion. This allows for both 'eating the body of the fish' and having the opportunity to 'eat the tail of the fish'.

The same principle continues to set the second and third profit-taking.

But! The key point is: I always leave 5-10% of the tail warehouse and don't care anymore! Sometimes this little tail warehouse can yield even higher profits than completely taking profits at the first position!
