Ripple and the SEC have officially put an end to the years-long court show that dragged on for so long that it seems half of the traders have already turned gray, while the other half collapsed at the bottom in 2020.
And here’s the surprise: the SEC said, 'alright, that's enough' and just took back its appeals. Ripple will pay a $125 million fine (a couple of weeks' commissions on Binance), and that's it. Case closed.
But now the most interesting part begins. The volumes of XRP futures have increased by 200% in a day, reaching $12.4 billion. This is more than Solana, and yes, SOL fans are now sadly adjusting their NFT monkeys. Open positions have risen by 15%, and the funding rate is slightly green towards 'long to the moon'.
And technical analysis. That wonderful moment when a 'bull flag' appears on the chart. This means that traders who were sipping tea with an empty deposit a week ago are already considering what color to paint their future Lamborghini. Target? $4.50. September-October. All by the classics: we take the height of the previous growth and add it to the breakout.
But there are also serious notes. On-chain data says: in the range of $2.80–$2.82 sits 1.7 billion XRP, like a strong defense in an old hockey match. And if suddenly the market wants to pretend this is a 'bearish reversal', this army of hodlers may say: 'No, come on, back up.'
And yes, the Fed is planning to lower rates in September. What does that mean? Money will flow back into risky assets. And if you think this coincides with XRP's goals, then... of course, it's a coincidence.
Forecasts? Mickey Bull is talking about $5–8, while some House is saying up to $10 in this cycle. If you think this is madness, remember that Bitcoin has done much stranger things.
But a warning in conclusion: if the crowd overdoes it with the shoulders, we are waiting not only for the moon but also for a quick return ticket to Earth with cascading liquidations. And it won't be fun anymore.
The story with the SEC is over, and the story with XRP's price is just beginning.
