According to Mars Finance, on August 7, CoinDesk reported that the revived investment bank Solomon Brothers has announced that it has completed the process of inserting OP_Return notifications into Bitcoin wallets considered 'abandoned', reminding holders to claim their assets as soon as possible. According to its official website, wallets that have not been used for over 14 years may be considered 'legally abandoned', raising discussions about potential seizure methods. Some commentators describe its actions as 'clever yet controversial'. The company has sent notifications to several well-known addresses, such as the '1Feex' wallet holding 80,000 BTC. Solomon Brothers stated that its anonymous client plans to set up a special fund to assist wallet holders who have lost their private keys, with relevant details to be announced in the coming months. The notification gives wallet holders a 90-day deadline to claim their wallet either by transfer or by filling out a form. Some users have already responded to the notification and have migrated their assets to new addresses.
