Bitcoin vs. Altcoins Open Interest Gap Continues to Grow
Just two weeks ago, Bitcoin’s open interest (OI) dominance was at 40%, while altcoins held 36%.
Currently, altcoins’ OI dominance has dropped to 31%, while Bitcoin’s OI dominance has climbed to 43%.
Why does this matter?
If altcoins’ OI surpasses Bitcoin’s, it signals a potential local top. As of now, this hasn’t occurred, meaning altcoins are unlikely to face a sharp decline like in Q1 2025 or Q2/Q3 2024.
Expect a potential 10%-15% pullback, but these dips will likely present buying opportunities before the next upward move.
