In 2017, Dutchman Didi Taihutu sold his house and most of his belongings for 100 Bitcoins, worth around $300,000 at the time. Many described him as crazy, but he chose to take the plunge and live a simple life, risking everything he owned to keep Bitcoin.
Today, with Bitcoin at $113,754, the same 100 Bitcoins are worth around $11.8 million. Taihutu wrote on the X platform: "We sold our house for 100 Bitcoins. We can now buy the same house for just four Bitcoins."
For comparison, if Taihutu had kept every single Satoshi, he could have bought 25 homes at $400,000 each.
The Taihutu family's journey wasn't easy; After Bitcoin reached $60,000 in 2021, the price later collapsed to $17,000 following the downfall of the FTX platform. However, Taihutu continued to adhere to his long-term vision, distributing his digital wealth across several countries using cold storage.
