From 720,000 to over 80,000, it wasn't a magic trick, but a clear-headed realization after complete defeat.
At that time, with only 720,000 left in my account, looking at the balance, only one thing kept resonating in my mind: Don't screw up again.
I didn't want to double my position, nor did I dare to close out my trades. I just wanted to avoid a blow, to survive a few more days.
I did something I'd never done before: for an entire month, I placed only one trade per day, no more than two, and never held a position larger than 25%.
It might seem like cowardice, but in reality, I finally woke up.
I stopped blindly guessing at the candlestick charts or betting on rebounds. I only traded in two scenarios:
- Trend confirmation + fund follow-up
- Extreme emotions + bottom-stopping pullbacks
I set a 3% stop-loss and a 7%-10% take-profit. I never forced myself to take a full position, but I took it one bite at a time.
In the first phase, I grew my account to just over 10,000, which took almost two months. I was fooled by the market twice, but I persevered because I had a stop-loss.
At this point, some people started to criticize me for being too conservative and slow to profit.
I smiled and said, "Don't talk about how much you've made yet. Tell me how many days it was since your account last saw no drawdown."
Later, I changed my pace, no longer trading high-frequency strategies. Instead, I focused on sentiment and intraday strength, waiting for opportunities. I might only trade once a day, or even three times a week.
But once I do, I need three things in place: a clear direction, a clean structure, and a clear stop-loss.
During the period when my account grew from 10,000 to 80,000, I barely stayed up late, chased rising prices, or changed my plans.
It wasn't that I suddenly became skilled, but that I finally stopped betting on doubling my profits on the next trade.
In this market, what you lack isn't hard work or opportunity; it's someone who can bring you consistent profits.
