Golden Finance reports that Base, the Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain under Coinbase, experienced a 33-minute block generation interruption on Tuesday due to switching to a backup sequencer that was not properly configured to handle transactions. The incident began at 6:07 AM UTC when the active sequencer started to lag in block generation, prompting Base's system Conductor, which manages sequencer availability and reliability, to perform a sequencer switch. However, Base Build's X account stated in a post on Tuesday that the system switched to an 'unhealthy mainnet sequencer' that was still in the setup phase and therefore unable to generate blocks.
