The unemployment rate in Brazil saw a significant drop in the second quarter of 2025, reaching 5.8%. This is the lowest rate ever recorded since the beginning of the historical series of the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) Continuous by IBGE in 2012.

* Unemployed Population: The number of unemployed people in the country fell to around 6.3 million.

* Employed Population: The number of employed workers reached a record high of 102.3 million people.

* Formal Jobs: The generation of jobs with signed work cards also reached a record, totaling 39 million people.

Unemployment by Age Group

Although the overall unemployment rate is declining, the situation is more challenging for young people. In the first quarter of 2025, unemployment among the population aged 18 to 24 was 14.9%, more than double the national average. For the group aged 14 to 17 years, the rate was even higher, reaching 26.4%.

Regional Data
