Jägermeister was created by Curt Mast, a German distiller and hunter. The story began with the family business, which was vinegar production in Wolfenbüttel, Germany.
In 1934, Curt Mast took over his father's business and, with his passion for liqueurs, dedicated himself to creating a unique recipe. After years of experimenting with different herbs, fruits, and spices, he finally arrived at the formula for Jägermeister, a herbal liqueur with 56 ingredients.
The name of the drink, which in German means "master hunter", is a tribute to his passion for hunting. The bottle also has a story: the logo, featuring a deer and a cross between its antlers, is inspired by the legend of Saint Hubert, the patron saint of hunters.
