Trump accuses major banks of bias against his supporters
In provocative statements made by former US President Donald Trump, he accused some major banking institutions in the United States of discriminating against him and his supporters.
During an interview with CNBC on Tuesday, Trump said that banks like Bank of America (BAC) and JPMorgan (JPM) had previously refused to accept deposits from him, adding:
"I think they are clearly biased against me, and perhaps even more so, they are discriminating against a large number of conservatives... In fact, the term (Trump supporters) might be more accurate in this context than just (conservatives)."
These remarks come after a report published by The Wall Street Journal that discussed Trump's intention to issue an executive order to punish banks that are allegedly practicing discrimination based on political grounds. Although Trump did not directly confirm this direction during the interview, his tone suggested the possibility of taking steps in this direction.
