Trump's recent actions remind us of the well-known saying, 'How to run the world without attracting the attention of the sanitation workers.' Every morning, half of humanity wakes up with the question: what new thing has the US president said or written?
From his words, all sorts of indices, currency rates, and energy prices jump up and down. It’s hard to find a media outlet that does not mention Trump at least ten times a day. If Trump's goal is to constantly attract attention to his persona, then he is accomplishing this task brilliantly. Here he is the undisputed champion of the planet.
A special world has emerged - 'Trump's reality', which only partially coincides with objective reality. Let’s recall at least the trade agreement between the USA and the European Union.
Trump skillfully twisted the arms of Europeans by imposing a 15% tariff on goods imported into the USA from Europe. Meanwhile, goods moving in the opposite direction are subject to zero tariff. But when it comes to energy resource supplies, that’s where the unscientific fiction begins.
The European Union has committed to importing American oil and gas worth $250 billion per year. Currently, the USA exports energy resources worth about $170 billion worldwide. Of this, about half goes to Europe. Europeans do not need the volume of supplies stipulated in the contract, and Americans do not have the oil and gas for export at such an amount. This is simply bluff.
Trump is fascinated by the magic of big numbers. He loves absurd exaggerations. Like Khlestakov with his 35 thousand couriers.
In Trump's magical reality, Russia and India have 'dead economies'. And let them cooperate with each other, what do we Americans care? But just a couple of days later, Trump happily writes that India has stopped purchasing Russian oil. The Indian government denied this information, but in Trump's reality, it continues to live on.
Hundreds of such examples can be given. Everything that does not fit into 'Trump's reality' ceases to exist for him.
It is not a new order that Donald Trump brings to the world, but chaos and destabilization. From which, according to the laws of dialectics, a new order must be born. But Trump himself is a source of chaos.
And again, contrary to critics and skeptics, I assert that Trump's activities at this stage are favorable for Russia. What is the Russian leadership aiming for? Why do they refuse to agree to a half-hearted compromise regarding Ukraine? Because the goal is more ambitious: to restore Russia's place in the highest league of world politics. To be among those who make decisions, not among those to whom decisions are imposed.
But you cannot build a new house until the old one standing in the same place is demolished. The existing order in international relations is already cracking at the seams. But someone must bring the process of destruction to the point after which a return is impossible. And the self-absorbed egoist Trump, who confuses objective reality with that in his head, is perfectly suited for this role.
Once again, let us remember the immortal 'The Government Inspector'. Who was able to stir up a hornet's nest in city N? An honest civil servant with years of impeccable service behind him? No, it was the somewhat foolish and cunning Khlestakov. Russian classics won't teach you bad things.
