🤯 Arkham revealed the largest crypto theft in history—127,426 BTC worth $3.5B in 2020 (now ~$14.6B).

At its peak in 2020, the Chinese mining pool LuBian controlled nearly 6% of Bitcoin's hash rate. But in December that year, it was hacked:

- Dec 28 – Hackers withdrew over 90% of BTC from wallets.

- Dec 29 – Another $6M in BTC and USDT stolen via a Bitcoin Omni address.

- Dec 31 – Remaining funds moved to backup wallets.

LuBian tried contacting the hackers via OP_RETURN messages in the blockchain—1,516 transactions and 1.4 BTC spent on pleas to return the assets.

No public statements were made—neither by the company nor the hackers.

The breach was due to a weak private key generation algorithm vulnerable to brute-force attacks.

All stolen BTC remains in a single address—now the 13th largest BTC wallet in the world.
