What is the problem?
On August 4, an explosion in the port of Beirut destroyed nearby areas in a matter of seconds. Approximately 300,000 people were affected - including 100,000 children - and there was virtually complete destruction of homes and buildings in both poor and affluent areas. Many buildings and infrastructure were obliterated as a result of this horrific event. Vital water facilities, such as the Achrafieh pumping station, are in critical condition and now leave families without water and supplies to meet their daily needs.
