A bronze statue of Satoshi Nakamoto, worth several thousand dollars, has been stolen from its public display in Lugano, Switzerland.

The artwork was part of the city’s Plan B initiative, a partnership with Tether to make Lugano a hub for Bitcoin and USDT payments.

Since its installation, it had become a regular stop for tourists, traders, and Bitcoin supporters visiting the city.

The theft took place overnight, with early reports suggesting the statue may have been removed using tools and transported by vehicle.

Organizers have announced a 0.1 $BTC bounty for any information leading to the statue’s recovery and the identification of those responsible.

Local police are actively investigating and analyzing CCTV footage from streets and businesses near the site.

Officials are also contacting nearby second-hand dealers, metal traders, and art collectors in case the statue is resold or melted down.

The statue’s disappearance is being viewed as a blow to Lugano’s growing reputation as a crypto-friendly city, especially as it continues to integrate digital currency payments into restaurants, shops, and public services.
