Trump is at it again! Early this morning, he went on a tirade on his social media account about the non-farm payroll data being fake. The 'king of understanding' never disappoints! I almost sprayed my coffee when I saw this post.
He said: "If you ask me, this employment data today is definitely problematic! These people are just trying to stir things up, wanting to bring down our Republican Party and me as the president. Remember the 2024 election? They released three days of good data, and then right after the election on November 15, they suddenly changed all the data! Isn't this clearly playing with people?"
The funniest part is he didn't forget to diss Powell: "That slowpoke Powell (he calls him 'Mr. Too Late') isn't anything good either!" But then he suddenly got positive: "But our country is doing great now!"
I thought about it carefully, and this is typical of his style: 1) When faced with unfavorable news, he shifts the blame 2) He digs up old accounts 3) He takes a jab at an old opponent 4) Finally, he forcefully ends on a positive note. He's getting more and more skilled at this combo, but isn't it a bit too much to even criticize the data agencies this time?
Have you noticed, he particularly loves to start with "in my opinion" followed by all sorts of exaggerated statements. But honestly, ever since the 2020 election, he has had this attitude towards any official data — as long as it's unfavorable to him, it must be fake. But this time, directly calling the employment report a "fraud" is a heavy accusation...
