📉 Brazil under pressure: tariffs or traps?

Brazil faces a complex trade scenario following former President Donald Trump's announcement of a blanket 10% tariff on imports, followed by a specific 50% tariff on Brazilian products, which could come into effect in the early days of August 2025. Although Trump claimed that the measures are aimed at punishing Brazilian judges for alleged political persecution, the Brazilian government has opted for a diplomatic stance, betting on negotiation and the institutional route.

Despite the symbolic severity, the immediate economic impact could be contained: the U.S. represents only 12% of Brazilian exports, and more than 700 products (including coffee, orange juice, and aerospace components) were exempted.
