On the morning of August 1st (Vietnam time), U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing reciprocal tariffs ranging from 10% to 41% on imports from dozens of trade partners, according to Reuters.
According to the executive order signed by President Trump, the highest tariff imposed on Syria is 41%, followed by Laos and Myanmar at 40%.
Tariffs of 30% and above include Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq, Serbia, South Africa, and Sweden.
In addition, the White House also announced that exports from Canada to the U.S. will face a tariff of 35%, instead of the current 25%, according to AFP.
According to CNN, countries with trade deficits with the U.S. will face a common rate of 10%. Partners not listed in the annex will also face a 10% tariff.
A 15% tariff will serve as the new floor rate for trade partners with which the U.S. has a trade deficit. About 40 partners will face this new 15% tariff. Meanwhile, over a dozen partners will face higher tariffs than 15%.
According to the executive order, the reciprocal tariff applied to Vietnam is 20%.
