⚠️ THE 10 STRONGEST EARTHQUAKES IN HISTORY
A megathrust earthquake of magnitude 8.8 struck the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia, at 23:24 UTC. It is the sixth largest earthquake recorded in history, tied with Ecuador-Colombia 1906 and Chile 2010. The strongest since the 9.0 in Japan in 2011.
🌊 Tsunami waves of up to 4 meters (13 feet) have already hit the Russian coasts. Authorities ordered mass evacuations while Governor Vladimir Solodov confirmed that it is "the strongest earthquake in decades." A kindergarten was destroyed but miraculously there are no fatalities reported.
