Recently, I've seen everyone discussing the WCT token, so I'm sharing an investment research report for reference.

WalletConnect Token (WCT) Investment Research Report

Project Overview

WalletConnect is a decentralized cross-chain protocol aimed at achieving secure connections between crypto wallets and decentralized applications (dApps). Since its launch in 2018, it has supported over 300 blockchains, connected more than 600 wallets and over 40,000 applications, facilitating over 300 million on-chain connections and serving 47 million users, making it a key infrastructure in the Web3 ecosystem. WCT is its native token, to be issued in 2024 on the OP mainnet of Optimism, leveraging the security of Ethereum and the high speed of the OP mainnet, with an initial total supply of 1 billion tokens.

Token Economics and Uses

1) Governance: Token holders can participate in decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) by staking, voting on network upgrades and development direction;

2) Staking and Rewards: Service nodes and gateway nodes need to stake WCT to maintain network security and performance, receiving rewards based on uptime and latency;

3) Fees: WCT may be introduced for payment of network service fees in the future, such as relay fees;

4) Airdrop: 18.5% of tokens (185 million tokens) will be used for multi-season community airdrops to incentivize users and contributors.

Tokens are initially non-transferable to ensure usage within the ecosystem, with future transferability determined by community governance.

Market Performance and Potential

As of July 2025, the WCT price is around $0.37, with a 24-hour trading volume of about $110 million and a market cap of around $71.2 million, ranking #464. It has risen 11.27% in the past 30 days, showing a bullish trend. Technical predictions suggest a peak price of $0.65 in 2025, potentially reaching $1.01 in 2026. Its cross-chain compatibility (supporting Ethereum, Solana, Cosmos, etc.) and real-use cases give it a competitive edge in the Web3 connection space.

Risks and Challenges

1) Market Volatility: Overall volatility in the crypto market may affect WCT prices;

2) Competition Pressure: Other connection protocols may divert users;

3) Regulatory Uncertainty: Global regulation of crypto assets may impact ecosystem development.

Conclusion

With its extensive ecosystem integration and decentralized governance, WalletConnect has established itself as the standard for Web3 connections. WCT, as a core incentive and governance token, has long-term investment potential, but attention must be paid to market and regulatory risks. Investors are advised to conduct in-depth research and make cautious decisions in line with market trends. NFA, DYOR.
