U.S. President Donald Trump denied any desire to harm billionaire Elon Musk's businesses amid questions about whether he supports federal agencies' work with the Tesla CEO's companies.
Trump wrote on "Truth Social": "Everyone is stating that I will destroy Elon Musk's companies by withdrawing some, if not all, of the substantial financial support he receives from the U.S. government."
Trump added: "This is not true, I want Elon and all the companies in our country to thrive like they never have before."
The American president said: "The better the companies perform, the better the United States performs, and that's good for all of us."
Trump confirmed that the United States is setting record numbers every day, stressing that he wants to keep things this way and maintain this success.
The president's comments come a day after White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said she does not believe Trump supports federal agencies' contracting with Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company.
When asked if Trump would want the government to cancel the recently announced contract with the company, Levitt said, "She will talk to the president about this matter."
The company "xAI" won a contract worth up to $200 million with the U.S. Department of Defense, alongside companies Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI, last week.
This week, "xAI" unveiled a range of products for U.S. government clients that it called Grok for Government.
Trump had previously threatened to cancel federal contracts with Musk's companies, such as SpaceX, saying in June: "The easiest way to save money in our budget, billions and billions of dollars, is to end government support and contracts with Elon Musk."
Trump and Musk have been in a bitter feud since their dispute at the end of May, when Musk's role as a technology expert as a private government employee ended and he publicly criticized the massive spending and tax bill.
