Colorado Pastor, Wife Indicted In Alleged $3.4 Million Crypto Scam A Denver grand jury has indicted a Colorado pastor and his wife on 40 felony charges for allegedly orchestrating a multi-million-dollar crypto scam that targeted their Christian community, with the couple accused of pocketing $1.3 million for personal luxuries while claiming divine guidance. Eli and Kaitlyn Regalado face charges of theft, securities fraud, and racketeering after soliciting nearly $3.4 million from over 300 investors between January 2022 and July 2023 for INDXcoin, according to a Tuesday statement by the Denver District Attorney's Office.

Polymarket Weighs Launching It's Own Stablecoin Polymarket, the cryptocurrency-powered prediction market that recently attained a billion dollar valuation, is deciding whether to introduce its own customized stablecoin, or accept a revenue sharing deal with Circle based on the amount of USDC held on the platform, according to a person familiar with the plans. Polymarket’s motivation to create its own stablecoin is simply to own the yield-generating reserves that back the large amount of Circle’s USDC dollar-pegged token used to make bets on the popular betting platform, the person said. A Polymarket representative said no decision has yet been made on the stablecoin question. Legislation around stablecoins passed in the U.S. last week makes issuing a stablecoin all the more attractive a business proposition for both crypto native firms and more traditional finance players alike who may be eyeing the success of stablecoin-issuing giants Tether and Circle.

Bitmine Reports $1 Billion In Ethereum Holdings BitMine Immersion Technologies (NYSE AMERICAN: BMNR) announced it holds approximately $1 billion worth of Ethereum and Ethereum equivalents, according to a company statement. The company closed its initial private placement of $250 million on July 8 and reported that its current Ethereum holdings exceed this amount by over 300%. As of July 17 at 3:45 a.m. ET, BitMine held 300,657 ETH valued at $3,461.89 per token, based on Bloomberg pricing. "At BitMine, we have surpassed $1 billion in Ethereum holdings, just seven days after closing on the initial $250 million private placement," said Thomas Lee of Fundstrat, Chairman of BitMine’s Board of Directors. The company stated it aims to acquire and stake 5% of the overall ETH supply. BitMine CEO Jonathan Bates described the acquisition as "a clear signal of our conviction in Ethereum’s long-term value." The company said it plans to increase ETH held per share through reinvestment of cash flows, capital markets activities, and staking yield. The company noted that 60,000 ETH, representing approximately $200 million notional value, are held through in-the-money options backed by $200 million of unencumbered cash. BitMine operates as a Bitcoin and Ethereum network company focused on cryptocurrency accumulation for long-term investment. Its mining operations are located in Trinidad, Pecos, Texas, and Silverton, Texas.

Canary Moves Closer to SUI ETF, Analyst Predicts New ATH in August After months of anticipation, the SUI ETF application filed by Canary Capital in March has been moved into the SEC’s “institution of proceedings” phase, marking the start of the formal approval process. This step could be a turning point for the Sui ecosystem if the ETF is eventually approved. Notably, Canary is not the only player eyeing a SUI ETF.
