On July 23, 2025, Jack Dorsey’s company Square (part of Block) started helping businesses accept Bitcoin payments. At checkout, customers can pay using Bitcoin by scanning a QR code. Payments go through the Lightning Network, which is fast and has low fees. Merchants can choose to get Bitcoin or instantly change it to regular money. Right now, only a few businesses are joining, but Square plans to expand it to more in the future. Since Bitcoin payments can be cheaper than credit card fees, this could help small businesses save money and make crypto payments more popular around the world.
