American tech mogul Elon Musk's space exploration company SpaceX has made a large-scale transfer of bitcoins held by the company for the first time in three years, amounting to $150 million, attracting attention from the cryptocurrency market.
According to on-chain data tracking platform Arkham Intelligence, SpaceX's wallet address '15oKQ…7Jf1G' transferred 1,308 bitcoins (valued at $150 million) to a new address 'bc1q8…hartf' around 1 PM today (22).
This is the first time SpaceX has transferred bitcoins since June 2022. The company previously transferred a total of 17,314 bitcoins in batches to Coinbase between May and June 2022, which is one of the few traceable on-chain transaction records for SpaceX.
So far, SpaceX has not issued any statement regarding this cryptocurrency transaction, nor has it provided further explanation regarding the motive for transferring the bitcoins.
According to the latest statistics from Arkham Intelligence, after this transfer, SpaceX's wallet still holds 6,977 bitcoins, valued at approximately $825 million, while Tesla, also led by Musk, holds 11,509 bitcoins, valued at approximately $1.36 billion.
Last month, Arkham Intelligence pointed out that Tesla and SpaceX together hold over $2 billion in bitcoins, with an average purchase price of $32,000 per bitcoin, and the paper profits of both companies' bitcoin positions are close to $1.5 billion.
