American tech tycoon Elon Musk's space exploration company SpaceX, after a 3-year hiatus, has made its first large-scale transfer of Bitcoin held by the company, amounting to $150 million, attracting attention from the cryptocurrency market.
According to on-chain data platform Arkham Intelligence, SpaceX's wallet address '15oKQ…7Jf1G' transferred 1,308 Bitcoins (worth $150 million) to the new address 'bc1q8…hartf' around 1 PM today (22).
This is the first transfer of Bitcoin by SpaceX since June 2022. The company previously transferred a total of 17,314 Bitcoins in batches to Coinbase between May and June 2022, making it one of the few traceable on-chain transfer records of SpaceX.
So far, SpaceX has not issued any statement regarding this cryptocurrency transaction, and there has been no further explanation on the motive for transferring the Bitcoins.
According to the latest statistics from Arkham Intelligence, after this transfer, SpaceX's wallet still holds 6,977 Bitcoins, valued at approximately $825 million; while Tesla, also led by Musk, holds 11,509 Bitcoins, valued at approximately $1.36 billion.
Arkham Intelligence reported last month that Tesla and SpaceX combined hold over $2 billion in Bitcoin, with an average purchase price of $32,000 per coin, and the two companies' Bitcoin positions have unrealized gains of nearly $1.5 billion.
