Over $2.17 billion in crypto thefts in the first half of 2025.
Chainalysis analysts recorded that in the first half of 2025, total losses from cyberattacks exceeded $2.17 billion — more than for all of 2024. The lion's share was caused by the hack of the ByBit platform, which was joined by another major attack on CoinDCX. Large-scale thefts have intensified concerns about the security of digital assets: trust in exchanges has been shaken, investors are once again opting for cold wallets, and regulatory pressure on the industry is increasing.
The World Economic Forum was accused of 'cooking the books' to present Brexit as a failure.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) was accused of falsifying research to present Brexit as a failure for Britain. Klaus Schwab, who has long been the face of the Davos Conference in Switzerland, allegedly intervened in the WEF's annual report on global competitiveness, in which countries are ranked by productivity and long-term prosperity. In the 2017/2018 report, the UK's ranking improved from seventh to fourth place after a methodology change. But the 87-year-old Schwab wrote to staff that the UK “should not see any improvement,” otherwise it would “be used by the Brexit camp.” According to the final report published in 2017, the UK dropped one position to eighth place. “Brexit... will by definition weaken the market component of the UK, as integration with the EU will be rolled back,” the report stated. At the time the report was published, the UK had voted to leave the European Union, but complex negotiations over Brexit were just beginning. The possibility of holding a second referendum to overturn the results of the 2016 vote was discussed. Allegations that Schwab ordered changes to the figures were made in an internal WEF investigation initiated after a whistleblower accused him of financial misconduct, inappropriate remarks to junior staff, and manipulating research. The Swiss newspaper Sonntags Zeitung received some preliminary results. During the preparation of the same report, according to the investigation, Schwab allegedly ensured that India did not fall 20 places in the ranking. The investigation, conducted by the law firm Homburger, also included information about expenses amounting to approximately £836,000, reported by Schwab and his wife Hilde. These expenses were allegedly not sufficiently related to WEF activities. The final results of the investigation have not yet been published. The WEF declined to comment on the investigation.

The discovery was made at a well just six kilometers from the Baltic Sea coast. It concerns over 33 million tons of oil and 27 billion cubic meters of gas. Poland currently imports 95% of its crude oil. The new field could more than double national oil production and increase gas production by 20%.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and 24 other foreign ministers, as well as the EU Commissioner for Equality, condemned Israel for depriving the residents of Gaza of “human dignity.” They called on the Israeli government to immediately lift restrictions on aid and urged for “an end to the war right now,” describing the suffering of the civilian population as having reached “new depths.” The ministers stated that proposals to relocate 600,000 Palestinians to a “humanitarian town” in Rafah are “absolutely unacceptable” and represent a violation of international humanitarian law.
An American who moved to Russia to live in a country with “traditional values” is being sent to the front lines.
The family of an American who moved to Russia to avoid “LGBT ideological indoctrination” says he has been sent to the front lines. 46-year-old Derek Huffman from Texas moved to Moscow seeking “traditional values” and enlisted in the army to obtain citizenship, with a guarantee that he would not participate in combat. The Huffmans moved to a village near Moscow founded by American blogger Tim Kirby. The village aims to attract families seeking to “avoid LGBTQ+ indoctrination,” which they say is prevalent in the U.S. Initially, he was promised a position as a military correspondent and mechanic, but now he is undergoing rushed combat training before being deployed to the front. The Huffmans took advantage of a new Russian visa program allowing foreigners dissatisfied with their government to apply for residency if they share the moral and spiritual values of the Kremlin.
