Nearly 50% of validators (representing nearly 500,000 staked ETH) expressed support for raising the gas limit, significantly increasing Ethereum's transaction throughput and scalability. The Ethereum L1 Gas limit was previously set at 36 million in February 2025.
Yesterday, Ethereum founder Vitalik tweeted that 'almost exactly 50% of stakers voted in favor of raising the L1 Gas limit to 45 million. The Gas limit has already started to increase and is now at 37.3 million.'
