In the world of cryptocurrencies, capital tends to flow toward assets with the strongest 'moats' and fresh, promising growth narratives about future value. Therefore, some coins can break out strongly, while others just stagnate.
Currently, two completely different cryptocurrencies – Solana and Shiba Inu: are preparing to enter the next growth phase of the market. One side is a high-performance blockchain with an increasingly applicable smart contract ecosystem. The other side is a meme coin featuring a cute dog, with a seemingly redundant blockchain.
The question is: Which coin will double faster, and more importantly, which one has the ability to maintain its value after that price surge?
Solana: The Growth Engine is Accelerating
At a price of about 177 USD, Solana's market cap is currently around 95 billion USD. To double the price, an additional 95 billion USD needs to flow in – not an easy feat, but not impossible either, especially if current trends continue.
One of the biggest drivers for Solana today is the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA), especially stocks. In less than a month, the value of tokenized stocks on Solana has increased from 15 million USD (on June 20) to 48 million USD (on July 4), then continued to soar to 103 million USD (on July 17). This pace far outstrips other blockchains during the same period.
The tokenization of stocks – especially popular stock codes – creates demand for the use of SOL since each transaction, transfer, or payment consumes a certain amount of SOL tokens. Additionally, institutional investors are gradually interested in asset tokenization for more efficient management, opening up sustainable growth potential.
Moreover, the developer ecosystem on Solana is growing stronger with over 3,700 active developers monthly – one of the largest communities in the industry. This development helps build more applications, attract new users, generate transaction fees, and ultimately provide profits for SOL holders through staking mechanisms.
Summarizing all the above factors, it can be seen: Solana does not need a miracle to double – it just needs to continue its current trajectory, which is entirely feasible when looking at what is happening.
Shiba Inu: The Momentum of Expectations is Fading
Compared to Solana, Shiba Inu's market cap is currently only about 8.5 billion USD. To double, it just needs an additional 8.5 billion USD – mathematically much easier. However, the big question is: Will that upward momentum be sustainable or will it collapse again soon?
One of the community's biggest hopes for SHIB is Shibarium – a Layer-2 chain launched in 2023 aimed at creating real-world utility. But to date, Shibarium has shown many signs of losing steam.
The number of new accounts created on Shibarium peaked on May 6 with 5,111 accounts, but has dropped over 99%, leaving less than 100 per day. The amount of tokens burned – once seen as an important supply reduction mechanism – has also decreased by 95% in just one week. The number of daily transactions has also sharply declined, now under 4 million transactions/day, compared to over 40 million during the initial launch phase.
Theoretically, a sudden meme wave could still help SHIB explode back. Speculative sentiment could abruptly lead to an influx of capital. But as history has shown: meme-driven price surges are often short-lived, coming quickly and leaving just as fast. Lacking real-world utility and creativity from the development community, SHIB struggles to retain value after 'Pump' events.
Conclusion: Solana Clearly Dominates
Overall, Solana has a higher potential to double in the near future and maintain its value afterwards. This chain processes real transaction volumes, collects transaction fees, has an expanding ecosystem, and a clear growth roadmap with many practical use cases.
Shiba Inu, on the other hand, still relies on expectations and crowd sentiment – factors that are highly volatile and lack long-term stability. Reality may help Solana run sustainably, while hope may help Shiba Inu accelerate – but in the long race, true value remains the decisive factor for victory.
