On July 21, PANews reported that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Thailand proposed to relax the knowledge testing requirements for retail cryptocurrency investors, allowing investors who have passed the test to be exempt from retesting, and changing the current requirement for quarterly retesting to a suitability assessment every two years.
The new regulations require ICO portals to conduct comprehensive suitability testing for all digital token investors to ensure that investment risks are aligned with product risks. This proposal aims to alleviate the burden on investors and ICO portals while remaining consistent with existing securities regulatory standards. The SEC is now seeking public comments, with a deadline of August 1.
