Deep Tide TechFlow News, on July 21, according to Cointelegraph, ConsenSys confirmed that there is a serious bug in its MetaMask browser extension, causing users' solid-state drives (SSD) to experience abnormally high frequency data writes, reaching up to 500GB per day, totaling as much as 25TB over three months, significantly shortening the SSD lifespan. This issue primarily affects users of Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome and Edge, and continues to write data in the background even when the wallet is not in use. Some users have reported that this bug has reduced their SSD's lifespan by about 50%. ConsenSys stated that it is aware of this issue, is actively investigating, and a fix is "coming soon" that will reduce the frequency of data writes and the number of data retrievals.
