#StablecoinLaw regulation of stablecoins in several countries
United States: Stablecoins are regulated under frameworks such as the Stablecoin Transparency Act (if any) or guidelines from the SEC, CFTC, and FinCEN. For example, stablecoin issuers must be registered as Money Service Businesses (MSB) in some cases.
European Union: MiCA Regulation (Markets in Crypto-Assets) will come into effect in 2024 and includes strict rules for stablecoins, including reserve and reporting requirements.
Indonesia: In Indonesia, stablecoins do not yet have clear specific regulations as of July 2025, but the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Indonesia (BI) oversee crypto assets in general. Crypto transactions are regulated by Bappebti, and stablecoins are often considered crypto assets that must comply with trading regulations.
