Powell Defies Trump: "Only Death Will Remove Me from the Fed"

Jerome Powell, the chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve, has made it crystal clear—he won’t step down, not even under presidential pressure. According to the book Trillion Dollar Triage, Powell told close allies there’s no scenario in which he would voluntarily leave his post—except death.

"Never, never, never, never will I voluntarily leave this job. I will finish my full term or die trying," Powell reportedly declared behind closed doors. And now, Washington is paying attention.

🔹 The pressure mirrors Trump’s 2019 push to fire Powell over interest rate policies. At a congressional hearing at the time, Powell firmly resisted: “The law gives me a four-year term and I intend to serve every day of it.”

Allegations of Perjury: Congress Launches Investigation

But Powell now faces a new threat: Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna on Thursday formally referred him to the Department of Justice, accusing him of misleading Congress regarding the $2.5 billion renovation of the Federal Reserve headquarters.

🔹 Powell claimed the cost hike was due to asbestos, contaminated soil, and underground water—critics call the project an "unnecessary luxury."

🔹 CNN reports Powell personally requested a Fed inspector general review of the project, which originally cost $1.9 billion but ballooned due to what Powell called "unforeseen conditions." #bitcoin #ETHBreakout3.5k
