#WriteToEarn Will Satoshi's Bitcoin be blocked?

Although the proposal affects only about 25% of existing bitcoins, identified as vulnerable in a recent study by Deloitte, the authors argue that an unprecedented threat requires equally unprecedented measures. Among these coins are 1 million BTC believed to belong to Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin.

"Never before has Bitcoin faced an existential threat to its cryptographic foundations," the text states. "A successful quantum attack on Bitcoin would cause enormous economic disruption and widespread damage to the ecosystem."

The proposed measure refers to BIP 360, developed by Hunter Beast, senior protocol engineer at Anduro. The BIP introduces types of addresses based on post-quantum cryptography, with different levels of security.

Lopp noted in May that quantum-resistant signature schemes are extremely heavy in terms of data size, which may reignite debates about the transaction processing capacity of the Bitcoin network.
