Polymarket predicts that the probability of Powell stepping down in 2025 is about 20%
After reports emerged that Trump had asked Republican lawmakers whether they should remove Federal Reserve Chairman Powell, the predicted market probability of Powell being removed surged to about 40%, while the yield on the U.S. 2-year Treasury bonds quickly fell; however, as Trump later clarified that he "did not intend to fire Powell," the predicted probability rapidly declined back to around 20%, and the yield partially rebounded.
