PANews, July 16 - According to Cointelegraph, Bitlayer, a Bitcoin DeFi infrastructure backed by traditional asset management giant Franklin Templeton Investments, announced the launch of the smart contract cross-chain bridge BitVM on its mainnet. This solution allows users to lock Bitcoin into a smart contract and convert it into a cross-chain interactive wrapped asset Peg-BTC (YBTC), which has already integrated with networks such as Sui, Base, and Arbitrum. Bitlayer stated that this bridging solution employs a single-signature verification mechanism to optimize security, aiming to bring native BTC liquidity into the smart contract ecosystem without altering the underlying Bitcoin protocol.
