The alleged hacking of McDonald's is the perfect example of a cybersecurity disaster.
The key to the problem is not a complex attack, but an absurdly simple password: 123456. This password is a symbol of critical negligence, as it is one of the first that any hacking program automatically tests.
Such a basic failure would have had devastating consequences: the leak of personal data of 64 million candidates, including not only their emails and phones but also their interview responses, which is very sensitive and personal information.
The lesson is clear and straightforward: investing in advanced technology, such as an AI hiring bot, is useless if the most fundamental security is ignored. The most expensive technology cannot protect against the simplest human error. Therefore, in addition to using strong passwords, the most important security measure is to always enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
