Shiba Inu has officially announced the development of the Shib Identity system, a solution designed to protect users from potential risks posed by quantum computing technology in the future.
This innovative identity platform promises advanced security by integrating features to counter attacks from quantum computers, ensuring resilience against current and future cyber risks.
Shiba Inu aims for quantum resistance.
According to updated information from Shib Magazine, the system will apply advanced encryption technology to protect user data while ensuring sustainable digital privacy. The network emphasizes that Shib Identity is not merely a login method or a marketing gimmick. This is a comprehensive architecture focused on digital sovereignty. The system allows users to control their data and privacy with unprecedented security.
One of the standout features of Shib Identity is the application of Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE). This cryptographic technique allows processing of encrypted data without compromising its confidentiality, ensuring that user identity information remains secret throughout the verification process.
"FHE is a challenging technology to implement, but it provides a rare advantage: the ability to counter not only current threats but also the risks that quantum computers may pose in the future," the Shiba Inu team stated.
The development team also plans to link Shib Identity with the existing Shib Name Service (SNS). They aim to expand this tool beyond wallet naming, creating a broader identity layer while maintaining FHE-based protection.
Their vision is to make SNS usable not only in Web3 environments but also on standard internet domains, connecting original crypto profiles with mainstream digital services.
"The development team (SNS) has laid the groundwork for ICANN approval, allowing *.shib domains to be used as standard web domains — connecting original crypto identities with the broader internet," they explained.
At the same time, Shiba Inu's utility token, Treat, will be integrated with the Shib Identity platform, turning it into a functional crypto gateway.
The decision to develop this system by Shiba Inu comes amid growing concerns about the impact of quantum computing on cybersecurity.
Industry experts have warned that existing cryptographic systems, including those protecting assets like Bitcoin, may be vulnerable to the development of quantum computers.
Consequently, members of the cryptocurrency community are working to develop security protocols against this threat.
"No one can pinpoint exactly when quantum computers will become a practical issue. However, Shiba Inu's design choices indicate they are not waiting to find out. They are building identity systems as if the countdown has already begun," the Shiba Inu team commented.
These steps reflect Shiba Inu's commitment to integrating practical utility into its ecosystem, affirming its status not just as a meme coin.
